OUR STORY

A quiet evening in downtown Los Angeles at the Everson Royce Bar is where our story begins. Frank and Steve introduced themselves over a glass of wine beneath the market lights of the courtyard. Steve casually snapped a photo of the setting, a photo now framed in their home. This was the start of a long journey, that would span 7 years and 7 thousand miles. At this time, Frank was approaching the end of his residency and interviewing for fellowship, as Steve launched his own coffee company, Campfire Adventure Coffee, while working at Paramount Pictures. They initially bonded over a love for the outdoors, and hiked their first trail together in the Santa Monica Mountains, with Steve’s lovable pup Darcy strolling alongside.
In July of 2019, Frank moved to New York City to begin his fellowship. Steve visited Brooklyn as often as he could and Frank took frequent trips to Los Angeles. They sustained their relationship long distance, persevering through a global pandemic until Frank was able to move back to Los Angeles in August of 2020. The reunion in Southern California provided the much needed support during a difficult time, as Frank shared their relationship with his entire world. This trial for them both, only strengthened the love and devotion they share for one another.

After two years in Los Angeles, career opportunities in Seattle relocated them to the Pacific Northwest. They fell in love with the breathtaking natural beauty of the region, especially following their first ski trip to Whistler in 2022. The following year, alongside a river at the base of Blackcomb Mountain, Frank dropped down on one knee and asked Steve to marry him. This special place is where they knew they wanted to share their love for one another with their families and closest friends.
We look forward to sharing this day with you and creating even more memories to frame in our home.

2. How long does the drive from Vancouver Airport (YVR) to Whistler take in summer?
The drive typically takes 2 hours along the Sea-to-Sky Highway. Add 30-45 minutes for summer traffic, especially on weekends and holidays. Shuttle services between Vancouver and Whistler can be booked ahead of time through RideBooker which offers North Bound and South Bound services. For more information on transportation, click here.
3. Are there any summer road closures or construction delays on the Sea-to-Sky Highway?
Road maintenance is common in summer. Check DriveBC.ca before your trip for updated road conditions and construction schedules.
4. What's the best time of day to travel from Vancouver to Whistler?
Mid-morning (10am-noon) or early evening (after 6pm) typically have less traffic. Avoid Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings when weekend travelers are most active.
5. What's the typical weather like in Whistler during summer (June-September)?
Daytime temperatures range from 21-27°C (70-80°F), with cool evenings around 10°C (50°F). Expect some rain showers, as this is the Pacific Northwest, but also plenty of sunny days. For more information, click here.
6. What summer activities should I book in advance?
Outside of our planned itinerary, please feel free to take advantage of the various popular activities in the area like zip-lining, bear watching tours, golf tee times, and spa appointments which should be booked 2-3 weeks ahead. The Peak 2 Peak Gondola can be booked online to avoid queues. Hiking trails are available at any time and can be found on the All Trails app.
7. What should I pack for a summer weekend in Whistler?
Bring layers: light dresses/suits, a warm sweater for evenings, rain jacket, comfortable walking shoes, hiking boots if planning outdoor activities, swimwear, and sun protection. Don't forget formal wear for the wedding.
8. Are mosquitoes or bears a concern in summer?
Both are active in summer. Bring insect repellent for outdoor activities. Bears are common but rarely a problem - follow local wildlife guidelines and keep a safe distance.
9. Should I exchange money at Vancouver Airport or wait until Whistler?
Exchange rates are typically better at banks in Vancouver's downtown or in Whistler Village than at the airport. Most places accept credit cards, but having some Canadian cash is useful for small purchases and tips.
10. What's the best way to get around Whistler in summer?
The free Village Shuttle runs regularly, and the Valley Trail system is perfect for walking or biking between venues. Rental bikes are widely available. Taxis and ride-shares are also options but can be busy during peak times. For more information, click here.
11. Is there a preferred hotel or a room block available?
With the love of travel shared amongst so many friends and families, it's understood points are important and guests are encouraged to stay at their preferred hotel chain or choose from the list above under lodging. Understanding the previous point, no room block has been organized. However, the grooms will be staying at the Four Seasons, and welcome any guests looking to stay there as well.
12. Are Uber and Lyft available in Whistler?
As of 2021, both Uber and Lyft are no longer available in Whistler. Two taxi services are available within Whistler and operate 24 hours a day. It's recommended to book in advance to avoid wait time and more information can be found here.
